Who this site is for
Go Life Launch is built for teens getting their first jobs, starting at age 14, along with their parents and the employers who hire them. Many of our tools are designed especially for 14 and 15 year olds, but teens of any age through high school are welcome. It is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before you send us your email address or any other information.
Information that stays on your device
These tools save your work in your own web browser (using a feature called local storage) so you can come back to it later. This information is not sent to us, and we cannot see it:
- Your resume in the Resume Builder
- Your work permit checklist
- Your badges, job tracker (where you work, position, start date and pay) and certificates
- Your savings goals and savings log on My Big Goal
- Your progress in the Excellent Employee class
- The zip code you enter to search for jobs
Because it lives only on your device, it won't follow you to another phone or computer. You can erase it at any time with the "Clear" or "Start over" buttons on each page, or by clearing your browser's site data.
Information you choose to send us
We only receive information when you fill out and send one of these forms:
- "Be the first to launch" signup: your email address and whether you are a teen, parent or employer. We use it only to tell you about new features.
- Job leads ("I have another lead" or "I already have a job"): information about a business, such as its name, type, city or zip code, and whether it hires 14 and 15 year olds. If you already work there, also your position and start date. We do not ask for your name or contact information on this form. We use it to learn which employers hire teens so we can add more job options.
- Feedback button: your rating and comments, the page you were on and the type of device (phone or computer). Please don't include your name, phone number or address.
- Contact form: the name, email and message you send, so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by Netlify. Like nearly all websites, Netlify automatically records basic technical information when a page is visited, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to keep the site secure and running. Our fonts are provided by Google Fonts, which also receives basic technical information when it delivers them. We do not use advertising trackers or cookies to follow you around the internet.
Links to other websites
Some links take you to other websites, such as McDonald's job site (McHire), the Illinois Department of Labor or your bank. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we don't control what they collect. When you apply for a job, you are sharing information with that employer, not with Go Life Launch.
How we use and protect information
- We use what you send only for the purpose described above.
- We never sell, rent or trade your information.
- We don't share it with employers or anyone else without your permission, except where required by law.
- Form submissions are stored securely with our website host, and only Go Life Launch staff can view them.
For parents
We designed Go Life Launch to collect as little as possible about teens. Most tools work without sending us anything at all. If you'd like to know what your teen has sent us, or want it deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete anything you've sent us. Just use our contact form. To stop receiving emails, reply to any email and ask to be removed.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
